A sine qua non for the development of a country is a sound system of investment, trade and transportation, which is also a prerequisite for sustainable development. If we are not able to reach our people where they are, if we are not able to go to our people instead of waiting for them to come to us, we won’t be able to convince them to stay in their native place. And then we would not be allowed to blame them for rushing towards big cities. We must build a nationwide system of transportation and communication that is uniform and equally developed everywhere in Turkey to link all centres of wealth to every part of Turkey. This can be done only with a sophisticated transportation infrastructure.
