Turkey:  ‘a country of connection’

The rectangular shaped country is washed on three sides by three different seas. Its shores are laced with beaches, bays, coves, ports, islands and peninsulas. The summers are long, lasting as long as eight months in some areas. Turkey is also blessed with majestic mountains and valleys, lakes, rivers, waterfalls and grottoes and is perfect for action and sportive activities seekers. The coastline of Turkey's four seas is more than 8,333 km long. Turkey, in the heart of Eurasia, dynamic nation by 75 million people with an average age of 28, connects the continents as an economic, physical and cultural bridge between the bordering 12 nations and four seas.  The land of Turkey have been invaded in many times but the last one in World War I was the deadliest costing over a millions lives.
Upon the decline of the Ottoman Empire, a young man named Mustafa Kemal, who was a soldier by occupation but in character, a great visionary, took the defeat  of World War I and turned it into a shining victory by liberating Turkey from  the invaders. Mustafa Kemal Ataturk founded the Republic of Turkey on October 29, 1923.

Turkey ‘ a hub of transportation and communication’

At the global level, transportation and communication infrastructure supports and shapes economic specialization and productivity, through international trade. Improvements in such infrastructures are expanding markets and development opportunities, but not uniformly. The inequalities of the global economy are reflected in its unproportional infrastructure systems.  Telecommunications, maritime transport and air transport, because of their scale of service, support the majority of global flow. Turkey; by its critical location in the world offering accessibility to gateways commonly an origin, is a destination and a point of transit. It generally commands the entrance to and the exit from its catchment area. Turkey is a pivotal point for the entrance and the exit in Eurasia which often requires intermodal transfers. Turkey is also a central point for the collection, sorting, transshipment and distribution of goods from and to the Eurasian countries.

Turkey, ‘ a cradle civilizations ‘

Turkey is, above anything else, a huge open-air museum, a repository of all civilizations nurtured by the soils of Anatolia.  The huge amount of historical and archaeological wealth in Turkey seems more appropriate for an entire continent than a single country. The first city ever settled in the world with comparatively modern organizational systems was a Neolithic city of Catalhoyuk where first wheel invented in central Turkey, dating back to 6,500 BC.  For centuries, Turkey has been a crossroads of religions, not only of Islam and Christianity, but of many others now forgotten by history. Many religions devotees can find a site, a shrine, a monument, a tomb or a ruin connected with their faith or belief.  Turkey, a treasure of history, a melting pot of civilizations and cultures
has been called as "the cradle of major civilizations”.
